Alcon Japan Ltd. deals with products from Alcon, an eye care division of Novartis, and imports and sells ophthalmic products, such as equipment for cataract/vitreous humor surgeries and intraocular lenses, as well as ophthalmic pharmaceuticals and contact lens care products. We started off in 1973 as a joint venture with a Japanese company before becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Alcon Laboratories in 1978. In March 2002, our headquarters, on paper, were moved to Alcon Incorporated located in Hünenberg, Switzerland. Then in April 2011, the merger between Novartis and Alcon Incorporated was finalized, and the eye care division of Novartis, Alcon, was formed. Two more partners, CIBA Vision and Novartis Ophthalmics, also joined Alcon.
